AKCELL Mobile overview

AKCELL Mobile is a radio measurement application that turns commercial off-the-shelf smartphones, without root access, into 4G/5G walk-test and drive-test probes, controlled as a fleet from a tablet.

AKCELL Mobile turns commercial off-the-shelf smartphones into 4G and 5G measurement probes, without test firmware, external hardware or root access. The 5G NR cell and its LTE anchor, neighbor cells, radio quality, network context and throughput are recorded at a sampling rate of 1, 2 or 4 samples per second; each sample is time-stamped and geotagged or, indoors, referenced to the floor plan.

Radio events — cell changes (handovers and reselections), 5G NSA addition and release, 3G/2G fallbacks, loss of service, degraded coverage or quality — are detected live, logged in the session and signaled by an alert. In the “fleet control” role, a tablet monitors each device within range over a local link, without a server, and starts recordings, tests and markers across the whole fleet.
